Stagecoach support for Chesterfield Foodbank

15th September 2026

Chesterfield Foodbank is delighted to have received a generous donation of free bus travel vouchers from Stagecoach, helping local people access vital support when they need it most.

The vouchers allow the foodbank to provide eligible clients with free electronic Silver DayRider tickets for travel to and from the foodbank. This means people can attend the foodbank’s support hub, and carry their emergency food parcel home without having to worry about the cost of the journey.

For clients who do not live within walking distance of their nearest foodbank centre, do not have their own transport or simply cannot afford public transport, the cost of travelling to a foodbank can create an additional barrier at an already difficult time. A three-day emergency food parcel can also be heavy and challenging to carry over a long distance.

Stagecoach’s support will help make the foodbank centres more accessible, enabling the foodbank to reach more people experiencing hardship. This helps to ensure that clients can not only get their food parcels home more easily, but also access signposting to onward support and advice which is available at the foodbank’s support hubs, helping to reduce the need for emergency food.

Jacqueline DeVeaux, a spokesperson for Chesterfield Foodbank says, “We are incredibly grateful to Stagecoach for recognising this need and for demonstrating such a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility within our community. This generous support will make a genuine practical difference to the people who use our foodbank, and we look forward to continuing to work with Stagecoach in the future. Thank you, Stagecoach, for helping local people access the support they need.”

Full details about eligibility and how to request a free Stagecoach bus ticket can be found on the Chesterfield Foodbank website https://chesterfield.foodbank.org.uk/stagecoachvouchers/
