Greetings Cards

25th August 2026

Beautiful new greetings cards featuring a very special Chesterfield-inspired character are now available in support of Chesterfield Foodbank.

The design features a charming gnome, also known as a “gonk”, wearing a wonderfully wonky hat shaped like Chesterfield’s famous Crooked Spire. Created especially for Chesterfield Foodbank, the artwork celebrates one of our town’s best-known landmarks in a fun and distinctive way.

The cosy little character also represents the warm welcome at the heart of Chesterfield Foodbank. Our “cup of tea” principle is about offering every person who visits us kindness, dignity and a friendly place to sit and talk, while their food parcel is tailored for their needs. The card captures a little of that comforting feeling of warmth, welcome and community.

The original design was hand-painted on canvas by local artist, Zelf, before being carefully reproduced as a greetings card. The artist has generously donated this artwork to raise vital funds for Chesterfield Foodbank, with 100% of the proceeds from the cards helping us provide food and support to local people facing hardship.

The cards are blank inside for your own message, and are available to order for collection from our foodbank for a suggested donation of:

  • £1.50 each
  • Four cards for £5

These unique cards are perfect for sending a little piece of Chesterfield to someone special, and every one purchased will help Chesterfield Foodbank continue to support local people when they need us most.

A huge thank you to Zelf for sharing their creativity so generously, and to everyone who buys a card and supports our work.
