Ragged School Church Harvest Concert

23rd September 2023

The Ragged School Evangelical Church hosted a very special Harvest Concert this evening, with choral music performed by the Members of Staveley and District Churches United Choir, accompanied by Michael on piano. Well done and congratulations to the Choir, Pianist and Conductor, whose performances were incredibly moving and uplifting with Harvest themed songs and hymns.

Michael stunned the audience with his performances of Chopin’s Minute Waltz and Debussy’s Girl with the Flaxen Hair. The songs and piano solos were interspersed with a mixture of light-hearted and symbolic poetry, which was read out by enthusiastic members of the choir. The audience was also invited to join in for the congregational hymns, and sang exceptionally well too.

Chesterfield Foodbank was invited to give an update, and the evening ended with a prayer of thanks.  Guests were then invited to enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits and meet the Mayoress of Chesterfield, Suzie Perkins, who was also in attendance at the concert.

Part of The Ragged School Church’s Harvest food collection was beautifully displayed, and will support Chesterfield Foodbank and Church on The Bus. Special thanks to the organisers from The Ragged School, David and Maureen and all the church members for your hospitality, and Julie Hunt who led the choir. A massive thank you to everyone who has donated food and money to bless the people of Chesterfield at this special Harvest-time! Your generosity is humbling and we’re so grateful for your support!
