Volunteer Trustee – Grants & Funding

Chesterfield Foodbank is seeking a volunteer Trustee with strong skills and experience in grant applications and bid writing to join our Board and help secure vital funding for our work supporting people facing hardship.

This is an opportunity to use your expertise to make a real difference locally. We are looking for someone who can contribute practical knowledge of grant funding, strengthen the quality of applications, and support the long-term sustainability of the charity.

What the role involves:

  • Supporting the development and review of grant applications

  • Advising on funding opportunities from trusts, foundations and corporate funders

  • Contributing to funding strategy and income planning

  • Attending Trustee meetings (approx. 5 per year)

  • Upholding the governance and responsibilities of trusteeship

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has demonstrable experience in grant applications or bid writing

  • Understands funding processes and reporting requirements

  • Can think strategically and communicate clearly

  • Shares our values of dignity, compassion and community

  • Can commit a few hours per month on a voluntary basis

Trustees are volunteers; the impact of this role is significant. Your skills will directly support our ability to provide emergency food, advice and early intervention support to people in crisis across our community.

Experience in the charity sector is welcome but not essential. We value transferable skills and a genuine commitment to our mission.

  • We are looking for: a passionate person to join our Board of Trustees. Fundraising and Grant applications experience and skills will be an asset.
  • Time commitment: Trustees meeting 4 – 5 times per year for 2 to 3 hrs. Agreed actions, emails and other communication between meetings.
