As the festive season approaches, Chesterfield Foodbank is working harder than ever to support local people in crisis, ensuring that everyone in our community can enjoy a warm, dignified Christmas.
Thanks to the generosity of local donors, the Foodbank will once again be offering a Christmas Wrapping Station, where parents and carers can choose a gift for their children and wrap it themselves. This simple act of choice and dignity means so much to families who are struggling at what should be a joyful time of year.
This Christmas, Chesterfield Foodbank is inviting local residents to get involved in several ways:
- Christmas Crowdfunder: Donations to the Christmas appeal will be match-funded by Aviva until 23rd Dec, doubling the impact of every pound given. Contributions help provide emergency food, toiletries, nappies and vital support for local families.
- Reverse Advent Calendar: Participants collect 24 items on the run up to Christmas, to donate at our warehouse. Essential items are especially appreciated as winter pressures grow.
- Annual Winter Collection at Tesco Extra, Lockoford Lane: From 27th–29th November, 9am–5pm, volunteers will be in-store collecting food and toiletries. Every tin, packet or treat helps bring comfort to someone in need.
- Toy Appeal: Chesterfield Foodbank is collecting new, unused unwrapped toys and gifts to ensure children and young people across the area have something special to open on Christmas Day.
In addition to providing emergency food parcels, Chesterfield Foodbank also offers a Pre-Foodbank Support Hub, where people can access practical help before they reach crisis point. Staff and volunteers offer warm drinks, friendly conversation and guidance with issues such as housing, debt, benefits, wellbeing and energy bills, helping people find stability and long-term support.
