New Foodbank Centre Opens at Whittington Moor

8th March 2025

We are grateful to announce the opening of a new Foodbank Centre at Whittington Moor, which began operating on 6th March 2025. The centre is open every Thursday from 2pm to 4pm at the Whittington Moor Church Hall, offering support to those in need.

Foodbanks should not have to exist, but as long as there is a need, we are committed to providing essential support. The launch of this new centre was made possible thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, who ensured a welcoming and dignified environment. With carefully prepared food parcels, warm drinks, and friendly faces, we aimed to create a space where people feel respected and supported.

We extend our sincere thanks to Chesterfield Roast, Newbold Outwood Academy, Lidl, Marks and Spencers, and Sainsburys for their recent donations of surplus supermarket food, which help us to provide fresh produce and baked goods in addition to our standard food parcels for those facing hardship. We are also deeply grateful to our volunteers, including those from other centres who worked hard to help get this new location up and running.

We are looking for more volunteers to join our team. If you are able  to give your time to help others, whether through packing parcels, listening with kindness, or assisting with refreshments, we would love to hear from you. Apply online here

Thank you to everyone who has supported this initiative. While we hope for a future where foodbanks are no longer needed, we will continue to stand with those who rely on them.
