A Day in the life of Chesterfield Foodbank

20th August 2016

This is when we miss vital people in our team, the warehouse manager and one volunteer away on hols.
First thing pick up at Tesco Extra drop bin, lots of generous people putting in food and toiletries plus a caterpillar cake.
Pick up surplus fresh bread from Monkeypark in Chester Street, beautiful bread what a privilege, so generous.
Back to warehouse and join Terry who has been to Tesco Metro and the Libraries. Start to process items into the stock and start making up the orders for the three foodbanks.
Back into Chesterfield for pick up at Sts Augustine church, a generous amount from the people who host the Superkitchen.
Drop bread off for the days foodbank on way, plus pick up The Compass foodbank order.
Meanwhile in the warehouse Terry has got together two of the deliveries for next week and started putting into stock donated items.
After getting Brimington’s order together, leave Terry to finish off, deliver Loundsley Green foodbank food and help set up for the clients, volunteers already started getting it ready.
Several calls from agencies and keeping eye on the email referrals.
Quite a few families today need feeding and we find a home for the caterpillar cake with one of our local agencies.
Pack up the foodbank and take more items delivered by Holy Moorside United Reformed church for warehouse.
Our thanks to all the volunteers, doners, agencies, clients, who made it all worthwhile.
